Promotional Summary:
From Academy Award winning director Mel Gibson comes the profound story of courage and sacrifice depicting the final twelve hours in the life of Jesus Christ.
Featuring stunning cinematography and an inspired performance by Jim Caviezel, The Passion of the Christ is a triumphant and uncompromising filmmaking achievement.
Strengths:
A solidly done production in every regard. Flashbacks contrasting Christ's meekness and humility against His merciless torture are interwoven throughout. Viewers will leave feeling drained and awe-struck as to the sufferings endured by our Savior on our behalf. Casting for the role of Jesus was one of the best ever.
Weaknesses:
One flashback of tremendous irony was missed: that of the centurion who came to plead with Jesus for the healing of his son. What a stark contrast this would have made against the savagery of the Roman guard during the torture and crucifiction scenes.
